A one-of-a-kind friend and weaver, Dee Richards, has left us. She leaves behind memories full of warmth and wit. A memorial fund has been set up in her name here at the Folk School to buy something special for the weaving studio in her memory. Those interested in making a donation of any amount should send it to : John C Campbell Folk School, Memorial Fund for Dee Richards, Weaving Studio. A plaque will be put up in her name.
Dee first came to the Folk School in 1984, and continually created, learned, shared and laughed in the “valley”. She gravitated to the fiber arts and weaving became a true passion. She loved to quilt, weave, knit, embellish and sew. Her garments and quilts always mirrored her warm personality. Those of us who knew her smile at the mention of her name. She loved the Folk School and represented what it means and what it has given to us all.
I can hear those shuttles flying
from the valleys and the hills …..
I’m going to Carolina, bless my soul.
