Holiday in the Mountains Week is an awesome week filled with holiday celebrations at the Folk School. This week we feature holiday themed classes for our students and free community events almost every day of the week!

We start our week with Fireside Sale, where lots and lots of artists come to the Folk School and sell their handmade crafts in Keith House and Davidson Hall. Buy handmade this holiday season!

Monday, Dec. 3 at 7pm
Ancient Christmas Carols
David Vowell and friends serenade us with ancient Christmas Carols at Keith House

Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 7pm
A Christmas Carol
In period costume, Bob Grove will present a dramatic reading of the classic tale, including character voices. In the familiar story, miser Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future who, in the course of a night, convince him to abandon his “bah, humbug” ways.

Wednesday, Dec. 5 at 8pm
Brasstown Morris Dancers’ Holiday Performance
As always they will be accompanied by their awesome band featuring fiddles, accordions, recorder, guitar and percussion. Expect a lively, colorful concert!

Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7pm
Smokie Mountain Melodies
The ladies’ barbershop chorus, Smokie Mountain Melodies, sing a holiday concert of Christmas songs and carols in four-part harmony.

Friday, Dec. 7 at 7pm
The Brasstown Ringers
Brasstown Ringers, the community handbell group of western North Carolina and north Georgia continues to challenge its ringers and its audiences with new and exciting music, as well as old favorites.

The Kids Party!

Saturday, December 15 from 8-11pm
Dance Party!
Beginners, couples and singles are welcome. This dance is free. Bring refreshments to share! Guest callers welcome. Music by many local musicians
