Our class title was: “MICA! Windows, Niches, and Inlays“, taught by Asheville artist Dan Essig.  The course description  noted that whether we pursued book arts, mixed media, collage, jewelry, scrapbooking, or just like to play with new materials — mica’s artistic applications would fascinate us.  And the class did not disappoint!

Dan’s inspirational teaching style and great wit (he makes up words!) created a comfortable atmosphere in the studio. Exposure to new materials and tools, combined with nutritious food and student camaraderie made for another exciting learning venture at the Folk School.
