Jerry Jackson, Folk School Executive Director, talks about “Giving Tuesday Now.”

#GivingTuesdayNow is a day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19.

We believe that despite our current physical separation, we can each still provide financial, emotional and/or social support that nurtures our families and communities.

During the pandemic, the Folk School has been working to connect our community members, both near and far, with one another. From a virtual weekly Morningsong to online chats by traditional Appalachian craft artists, to donating handmade “Hearts at Work” to our local frontline workers, we are committed to remaining true to our mission: “The Folk School transforms lives, bringing people together in a nurturing environment for experiences in learning and community life that spark self-discovery.”

#GivingTuesdayNow is a day for people to show their generosity in a variety of ways. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, advocating for an issue, sharing a skill, or giving to causes, every act of generosity counts.

Please donate to the Folk School on Tuesday, May 5 as your statement of support for our vision that, collectively, we are a community that awakens, enlivens, and enlightens the world with our values of joy, kindness, stewardship and non-competitiveness.

Generosity gives everyone the power to make a positive change in the lives of others and is a fundamental value anyone can act on. Even as we practice physical distancing, we can remain connected through kindness and generosity.

Thank you from your Folk School family.
